An archive is a place that is always alive, the first and largest archive in history is our brain, and we start filling up the moment we come into the world. To create this magazine, we therefore ventured into those archives that fascinated us first and foremost as places: ancient palazzi, room crammed full of shelves, places brimming over with history. We met the archivists and this magazine was created to give voice to them and to their work. Archives are important because they tell stories – our stories.
